How to use your estimate

Ask for General Price Lists. Every funeral home must give you one when you ask about arrangements in person, and must give prices over the phone. What the GPL shows.
Compare like with like. Package prices differ in what they include. Compare the individual items.
Call the cemetery separately. Plots, opening and closing, and vault requirements are set by the cemetery.
Ask about cash advance items, which the funeral home pays to others on your behalf.

Where the ranges come from

The ranges are deliberately broad national planning figures, anchored to national median prices reported in the National Funeral Directors Association’s 2023 General Price List Study (for example, a $8,300 median for a funeral with viewing and burial, and $6,280 with cremation, excluding cemetery costs). Cemetery and third-party figures are broad ranges because they vary so much. None of them are Melbourne prices or prices from any specific provider. Death certificate fees use the Florida Department of Health fee schedule.
